Terms of use
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Pinchwise (“the app”, “we”) is a free, independent tool that scales recipes to the amounts you actually have. By using it you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
What the app does
You paste a recipe, import one from a web address, or type one in. The app reads the amounts and recalculates them when you tell it how much of an ingredient you have. Everything you add is stored in your own browser, not on our servers. There are no accounts and no fees.
Your recipes and other people's rights
- You are responsible for the recipes you add and for having the right to use them.
- Recipes you import from other websites are for your personal, non-commercial use. They belong to their authors. The app always credits and links the original page, and we ask that you respect the author's rights and the website's terms.
- Don't use the app to copy websites in bulk, to get around paywalls or logins, or to republish other people's recipes.
Importing from links
When you import a link, our import service fetches that single page on your behalf and returns the recipe it finds. It doesn't store the page or the recipe. Some sites don't allow automatic imports, and we honor sites that ask not to be imported (see For website owners). You can always copy and paste a recipe instead.
Check the results
Scaling, unit conversion and reading recipes are done automatically and can be wrong. Amounts are rounded to practical kitchen measures. Always check the result before cooking, especially for baking, home canning, curing, and anything that matters for health or allergies. Cooking times and temperatures are never changed, and larger or smaller batches may cook differently. Please read our food safety and nutrition notes.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise that it will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the app or of recipes you prepare with it. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; you may also have consumer rights that these terms don't affect.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Pinchwise, with no obligation to you. Please don't send anything you'd want kept confidential.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we'll note it on the home page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Minnesota, United States, except where the law of your country says otherwise.
